I dropped it

I stupidly dropped my beloved 16-45mm lens. Only fell 1/4" but it was enough. I'll admit to shedding more than a few tears when it happened. The viewfinder shows a very dark screen and it seems the blades are not opening at all when connected. The shutter won't release and the f-stop is stuck on 30".
I'm wondering if it is even possible to have it fixed. It would be worth it if it was restored to normal.
Your thoughts. Susan

Eric Hernderson is the one to contact. PentaxRepairs@AOL.com
You will find lots of references for him throughout the forum.

I dropped a big $1,000 lens 60" and it broke the mount. It was less than $200 for repairs. I think the 16-45 is worth that much but contact Eric for an opinion.

EDIT - com'on....only 1/4"???

Guess I was very lucky then when I dropped my 12-24mm two days after buying it,
from hip level onto a concrete sidewalk.. Appart from a few scratches
in the plastic near the '12-24' ID plate, it's performance doesn't seem affected at all!

I'm predicting a Spinal Tap "Stonehenge" moment here...

Yep 1/4". It did fall on New Hampshire granite however. I can't believe that mlatour dropped one from hip height onto concrete with no ill effects. Thanks imtheguy for the link to Eric Henderson.

Luck ran out the following week Susan when I broke off the hotshoe
mount on a 2 week old Sigma EF-530 DG Super flash...
(thank you Nikon for metal hotshoe rails!)

I do a lot of fireground photography here in Montreal and it
can be quite rough on equipment at times. At least it was just
a 22$ repair this time!

You're welcome.
Somebody in the forum reminded me of the link last summer when I was the one suffering like you are now.
