vivitar 28mm 2.8 A lens, keep or sell

Okay folks, I took a chance on Ebay and got burned. I bought a K1000, pentax SMC 50mm f2.0, Star-D 70-200 zoom, vivitar 28mm 2.8 A lens and a fantastic camera bag. This is the last time I buy from a "dealer" who stated that he was selling for someone else and the owner said everything was working but things were being sold "as is"

1. K1000, can not get the shutter to wind
2. 50mm lens had a lousy filter on it, went to take off the filter and the lens fell apart
3. I know the star-D is a C*** lens but my son who uses only manual lenses
gave me $10.00 for it

I had spent $53 on the whole kit (including shipping)
I love the vivitar lens(which works great and does a nice out of focus background rendering) but had hoped to sell the rest of the stuff to pay for it.
Soooo, is $43 too much for the vivitar and a really cool camera bag or should I sell it to recoup some of my losses and try again.

Let me guess, the part on the 50mm that fell off is basicly the filter mount flange.
This appears to be common with this lens, and even my K-mount 55mm f1.8 was loose when I got it.
Use an eraser to remove the part with the writing on it, and you'll see 3 screws.
Tighten them up, and you have a good lens. I've gotten several good pic's with mine.

This is the image quality I get from my Vivitar 28mm f2.8 lens, so you decide.

I wouldn't give it up for $43.00

If it happens to be screwmount, and you decide to sell it please let me know.
You'd have to wait 2 weeks, but I'd be willing to give you $75.00 for it. Shipping included, to either the US or Canada whichever is more affordable for you.

What's the difference between the Vivitar 28 2.8 and the Pentax A28 2.8? They both look almost identical.

I'd agree with Stu. For $43. you really can't go wrong. It's a very good lens that will serve you well and is an excellent focal length on a digital. The difference is partly the SMC coating. Pentax exclusive that adds contrast, and reduces flare. One othe the best multi coatings in the industry.
