So what do YOU use as your party lens?

you know.............your mates place....a few beers or the odd glass of wine.....good food, good company.......fleuro lights.......fish tank with lights in the background.......birthday candles........great Aunty Flo on her 4th glass of red........her focus may be better than yours...

So ya want to whip out the camera a shoot off a few frames in the kitchen and then wander out to the bbq.........black as pitch out there......maybe a bit of light from the back porch......or cigarette lighters

So what lens do you have on your camera.......providing you can find it.....

cheers
Jan

da40 - easy to hand off the camera to others. Great photos in the dark w/ a big flash.

FA50/1.4 (for those dark moments of the soul & BBQ)
Viv 24/2 (the aperture is stuck open, but who cares?)
Zenitar 16/2.8 (for a crowd that isn't paying attention)
or just the kit 18-55 with a big flash (put a sock on it)

I like wide but not too wide. The Sony Nex with 16mm would be perfect.

Tamron 18-250mm. We have a big house with a huge verandah and pavilions, so the ability to go wide, or zoom far, is needed. Metz 48-AF1 Flash with diffuser sock, set to bounce off the white ceilings.

And Noise Ninja used in Aperture in PP when needed

You like to keep your distance, then? And avoid dark places?

FA35/2 and flash - because that's all I have that will work and it is semi-perma-mounted so if it's "grab the camera" that's what's already there.
