hard to turn zoom

I have a Sigma 70-300 zoom. The zoom ring is fairly hard to turn. Is there anyway to lubricate this without getting any lube inside the lens itself?

I don't think there is a simple way "to lubricate this without getting any lube inside the lens itself." Also, the cause of the problem may not be the lack of lubrication.

You need to identify the cause of the problem first. That normally requires a dissassembly of the lens.

You also might want to have someone else to check the lens to see if perhaps your expectations are off. Fairly tight zoom rings are usually a good thing - otherwise they slide out of position too easily. Could be the lens is actully fine as is.

You want the lube on the inside of the lens. You wouldn't really lubricate the outside.

You have to take the lens apart to lube it, and a zoom is not my idea of a simple thing to disassemble and reassemble if you've never done it before.
