FA 31mm MIV owners.

I am planning to get the FA 31mm at b&h, but I want to ask the owners of the Made in vietnam versions. Hows the lens quality, the sharpness of the images? Please let me know? I really want the MIJ but I just dont want to risk buying this expensive lens without getting any warranty. Thanks in advance.

I have an AIV copy and it is an excellent lens.

Just mind the fact that sheer sharpness is not something you will find at it's best with the limiteds but rather sheer "magic"

If you really want a MIJ version check with Adorama. I purchase a new Made in Japan FA 31mm from them two weeks ago. A warranty will come with any new one you purchase: MIJ or MIV.

I have the MIV and it's been just fine for me. Afaik the lens glass itself is still made in Japan, the lenses are simply assembled in Vietnam...

Yes the glass and all is still made in Japan the lenses are assembled in Vietnam only. AFAIK there were some issues with AIV versions but Pentax were happy to fix/exchange the lenses under warranty. Anyway, haven't seen many complaints lately so it seems to be solved. There are quite a few happy compers wit AIV versions of Ltds by now.
