Hello,

A quick question here, I have just bought the Samyang 14mm for Pentax, and quite happy with it, I will post soon some pictures taken with it here.

I am bringing it to Himalaya in few weeks, and a bit worried about the UV light up there since it is not possible to add any filter on this lens.

Anyone would have a brilliant idea on how to deal with this?

I have the 8mm fisheye and am quite impressed with the coatings on the lens. with a 180 degree field of view it is almost impossible not to be shooting into the sun, but lens has very little flair and great contrast, I would expect the 14mm to be the same

yep, they dont say much about the Ultra Multi Coated lenses. It reflects light, but doesnt say anything about UV light.

Digital sensors are not sensitive to UV.

UV could be an issue if you're shooting film, but if you're shooting digital, modern digital cameras aren't UV sensitive the way film was.

I can't speak for the 12-24 butnin my opinion it is sharper than the sigma 10-20 which I also own. BUT it displays considerable barrel distortion. The distortion is correctable easilynwith almost any photo editor and is usually not an issue unless you are shooting straight lines or modern buildings.
