Help needed with camera/lens ID

Friends of mine recently returned home to find they'd had their house broken into and a number of items stolen, including the camera they'd had since the 70s. Since I'd expressed pleasure that they had a Pentax, he asked me whether I recalled what make it was, what the lens was, etc. I "think" it was a K1000 (he confirmed it was Bayonet mount). I found the following pic (cropped) - anyone have thoughts on whether it is a K1000 and any ideas on what the lens is (a zoom)? Also, any suggestions on value?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Looks like a K1000 to me. The lens looks like a third-party 80-200 or similar.

If the light meter still worked, I would say the K1000 was in the $80 range. Say $20 for the lens.

(Just guesses.)

Yea it looks like those standard 80-200/f4.5 lenses. UGh 30 years of sentimental value...that hurts. =(

Report the B&E asap and if he still has the papers with the serials down somewhere provide that info to the authorities/check the local pawnshops too. Alot of B&E stuff gets taken there for quick cash.

It is a KM, KX or K1000. You cannot determine which one because the right hand obscures the "tell tale" part of the camera.

If there is no self timer hidden beneath the hand it is a K1000!

I think it's the sentimental value that's killing them - he seemed to think that the loss of all his wife's jewelry didn't compare to the loss of the camera they've used for years and years.

I just looked up some prices at a local store for used equipment which I printed out for him - $209 for a K1000 with 50mm f2. They seem to be going for less than that on ebay, but . . . .

Having a few extra camera bodies hanging around, I may just hand one off to him - and he could use the insurance money to buy a new (or newer) lens for it. I won't let go of the one I got in the 80's, but maybe the less sentimental "crippled mount" ZX 30 (?). We'll see.

It was an LX with an 80-200 f2.8 zoom! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
