How to stiffen mf focus ring on fa ltd and da ltd primes?

That says it all. Using Pentax limited lenses on another system MF only and wish for more resistance on the smooth focus rings.

Thick grease?

Rubber band? Maybe a thick one that can cover the focus ring and cause a bit of friction on the barrel.

haha kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place with that one. I like the rubber band idea but I don't think any of the limited lenses, (DA ones espeically) really give you the room to put on a rubber band without like totally covering up the ribbing on the focus ring.

Pentax designed them to be light that way so it wouldn't stress the AF motor. Kinda wish they brought the Clamp feature back from the FA/DFA macro but..that's a whole other discussion lol.

Some years back someone had his FA31 relubed to do exactly that. The reason Limited lenses have firm but light focus rings is that very light grease is used on the helical. They can be cleaned and relubed with heavy damping grease and will feel like good old MF lenses. This will however stress the body AF motor. The choice of grease is also important otherwise the vapour might fog the glasses.
