Tamron 28-75/2.8 for me. In fact, I shot with it more images than with any other single lens.

Easy choice for me. The only non Pentax lens I have kept is the Sigma 10-20. Fantastic value for the money!

My favorite non-Pentax Lens:
Voigtländer 125mm f/2.5 SL macro
Sigma 10-20 f/4.0-5.6 DC
Revuenon 55mm f/1,2

Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 - the perspective can produce some compelling shots and the colours, especially if you give it a bit of blue sky [rare here unfortunately] are astonishing.

Favourite non-Pentax lens for me by far is the Voigtländer SL 125mm f/2.5 APO-Lanthar.

I believe the Sigma 100-300 APO is the best long telephoto there is right now. no offense to the Bigma, Bigmos and it's other longer telephoto zoom siblings.

My favourite, Pentax or non-Pentax: Sigma EX 70-200/f2.8, it's probably the original incarnation of it (it has an aperture ring!), so no HSM, no macro, no DG. It's brilliant, sharp, pretty quick to focus not too heavy, fan-bloody-tastic.

... later Leitz Summicron 90 and Summicron 35

from zooms: Sigma 70-200/EX and Sigma 100-300/4

It's a no brainer for me. The Tamron 90mm F2.8 macro wins this one hands down. Great macro (of course) great portrait lens and great short telephoto.

Sigma 10-20 by a long shot. This is the only lens that I tried where my immediate reaction was WOW! And the decision to buy it was just as immediate. If I could only keep just one lens, I take the 10-20 over all my Tamron, DA Limiteds etc. in a heart beat.

Its true, I sleep with my A*400/2.8 but when it came to macro I tried 3 brands and ended up going around Pentax for the Tamron 90/2.8. I don't sleep with it but we have had a few walks in the meadow together.
Nice to see that you've definitely made friends with that monster!

I too own the Tamron Macro 90/2.8 and love it, although I haven't used it quite enough.

Cheers.

I only own two non-Pentax lenses, and they're both weirdo specialists. Which is the favorite? Depends on what I'm doing.

Long Distance: Cambron 500mm f/8 mirror lens aka Spiritone 500mm minitel, actually designed by Tomioka for Vivitar. It's not uber-sharp and the contrast always needs digital help, but I have had tons of fun with that thing, and it only set me back about a hundred bucks, and came with a bunch of other gear.

Most specialized: Vivitar Series 1 70-210 f/2.8-4.0 QDOS. A nice enough tele/zoom, and faster than my 75-300 autofocus, but the big deal is throwing the switch and getting red/green 3d images. I lurked Ebay for years gunning for one of these things.
