Tokina RMC 35-105

Anyone have experience with this one? I bought one a month or so back and just got around to using it today. This lens is nothing short of fantastic! Wide open it is sharp, but stop it down and it is razor sharp. Here is a link to a couple of pics I took with it today on a walk around.

Tokina RMC 35-105 - a set on Flickr

Please take a look at the photos and tell me what ya think all of them are taken at wide open 3.5-4.3. I havent really seen any discussions on this lens but I feel that it is a real sleeper. I am stunned.

Plus I only payed 35 dollars for it.

When I was shopping for the SMC A35-105mm lens, this kept cropping up on Ebay for a very cheap price. I was a bit curious to try it but figured it couldn't be better than the A35-105mm.

So, how does it compare?

I have never used the A35-105 but I can attest to how well this lens performs. For the price it cannot be beaten.

I had one for a while, let it go because of barrel distortion.
Other than that it was a decent lens.

I fail to see barrel distortions in my images, would you mind posting some images that show this?

edit: I added a shot of a Coca-Cola painting on a brick wall, I cannot see any distortion but This picture is a clear example of how it gets soft in the corners. I will say the problem is less noticeable when it is stopped down.

Its probably been 20 years or more since I sold my 35-105. Sorry, I won't be able to put my hands on a picture from my copy of that lens
