Yep, I own one, quite a yummy lens, bought from a US EBAY seller. The warranty I think is global and any servicing of the lens requires it being sent to Germany so no issues regarding warranty and grey imports.

Well known and well regarded lens from what I read. Manny say it has "different" OOF rendering. Some say Pentax 50/1.2 is better but some say CZ holds its own very well against any SMC lens. If you want to know more have a look at review database here and photozone.de did test (I think on Nikon version or Canon - not sure). Anyway if you are not on budget I don't think you can go wrong with it...

it's a great lens in it's own right. but at such a price premium, you are better off with the cheaper Super/ SMC Taks f1.4, f1.2 lens, and AF 1.4 lenses like the Sigma and DA*55.

the Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 beats The zeiss planar it in terms of corner sharpness, even on full frame the difference is noticeable.

I've seen some excellent results from the CZ 50mm. The sharpness in the thin depth of field is superb. My SMC Tak 50mm f1.4 certainly is not this sharp at f2.0.

Is it worth the price premium? Not sure, it's even more expensive than an SMC A50mm f1.2. The Voigtlander 58mm certainly is interesting....

You remind me the photozone test of this lens on EOS 5D. Quite disappointing.

I have been using the Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 on my Nikon D3 alongside My Noct nikkor 58mm f/1.2. Visually they are quite distinctly different in terms of rendering not only of OOF areas, but in terms of accutance in the areas of focus. The voigtlander is extremely good. At wider apertures f/1.2~f/2 the Noct nikkor is slightly better...but not by much.

+1 with Digitalis on the Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f1.4.

I cannot comment on the Zeiss lens that I do not own. I have the Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f1.4 with K-mount. The combo with the K-7 give some fantastic results.

While I bought originally the Voigtlander 58mm for low light, outdoor shooting, it has become increasingly used for many other applications and situations. A great lens with Pentax dSLR ....

managed to get this out for some sample shots today

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but I couldn't find more recent ones.

some test shots i took with the CZ Planar T* 50/1.4. I can't really say whether this is the sharpest 50-ish 1.4 lens i've handled, but it was fun to play with.

at f1.4

the following 2 at f2.8

Have you considered a 50 1.4 takumar? Those can be had for next to nothing nowadays and are incredibly sharp. The only downside is that you would need to use an adapter and lose the A-setting. However, with a lens like that, you usually end up shooting at 1.4 90% of the time anyways, so not a big issue there.

Thank you,
I already have a P50/1,4, so I'm trying to use that one (as seen on my other posts)

Is the Takumar supposed better than K or M 50/1,4?

My sources are on Takinami website: http://www.takinami.com/yoshihiko/photo/lens_test/pentax_normal.html

The measurements on that website are not directly relevant for digital,
where it's easy to boost contrast in PP.
