another which lens should i buy thread

hi

sry if we already had this discussion.

so… d fa 100 macro wr vs. 70 limited

i mainly do street and portrait photography(i am not a pro and i am definitely not a macro photographer). i have a 60-250 f4 and an af 540 flash and i am looking for the "next step".

id like to take this lens with me to my holiday(turkey-1week on a ship) and i am also going home in january(2-3months-cold,snow).

70 limited:
cheaper
smaller
one of the best pentax lens(at the moment i don't know this is pro or con…)

d fa 100 wr.:

bigger
more expensive
one of the best pentax lens…

and here is my big dilemma: WR

what do u think guys,do i really need a wr lens for my trips?
edit. sry it was a typo....

Well, I'm not gay but I will answer anyway. Save yourself the misery of making the decision and buy both. I like to do Macros so I chose the DFA100mm WR (not to mention I already have the FA77).

Do you have to be gay to answer this question? I'm so confused!

That's good stuff. I didn't know if he was just looking for the gay perspective on his decision or what.

Don't make me come out of the closet to answer you question. But I think 100mm Macro can be used for portraits just fine if not better. You can do close, tight face shots that are harder with other lenses.

Last time I checked I wasn't gay either.... but anyway...... cheaper, smaller, faster. Unless you want to do macro then the answer is obvious.

If you own the 60-250, then you already have used both focal lengths you are considering. Why not look at your exif data and see which you use more often? That would be a good start.

If you think about traveling, then the more compact lens of course makes sense. Optically they are both very well regarded, the 77 being faster obviously (another perk).

For me, having one WR lens (the 18-55) makes a lot of sense, it goes with my lifestyle. For you it might be different.

My favorite portrait lens is the FA77. The 100 is just too long and ther perspective too compressed for my taste. YMMV. I do use the sub-2.8 apertures for effect, as well.

However as a travel lens, the DA70 is the ticket IMHO. Without the hood, (which you can carry separately in the bag, if necessary) this lens is tiny, and it is super sharp for getting landscape details. The amazing sharpness means it is easily cropped to the view of a longer lens. Add this to the kit lens, and you have excellent reach. Put a DA15 at the other end, and you really have something.
