Sears lens naming

I have Sears 60-300mm 1:4.0-5.6 lens. The aperature ring has the letters PU on it. Do you know what that might mean. Do I set it as a manual lens and can I use green button. The camera is an Pentax K-x. This is a M42 mount wiyh adaptor.

I've moved your post to a separate thread in the lens section. Please don't hijack articles with unrelated questions.

I don't know what the letters PU could mean, but unless there's an A setting beyond the minimum aperture setting, then it's a manual-aperture lens.

Ummmmm, If you haven't already, Don't mount that lens on your camera. It could get stuck. Do a search on the Ricoh pin to learn more about it. I've never owned one so I cannot help with your actual question.

By any chance is the lens thread mount? In that case, "PU" might mean "Pentax Universal"...or it might also just mean that it smells bad.

Some of the K mount versions of these lenses Do get stuck on the camera. The M42 Sears lenses are an entirely different animal.

Nice shot of the kitty!
