What adapter is this for

I can see one side is M42, but could not see anything similar on the other side.

Doesn't look like a Pentax adapter to me. At first, I was going to say 6x7 to m42, but it's not wide enough or deep enough.

I got this with a Spotamatic package. It has A to M switch like M42 lens which transformed to a relatively complex mechanism, has four notch opening compare to usual three for most of the mount I can find. The aperture ring is also confusing.

I think it is an adaptor for Miranda bayonet lenses. It's the only 35mm 4 claw bayonet I know of. The Miranda system had a dual mount, bayonet and M44 screw.

Bronica used a 4 claw bayonet for its 6x7 but this adaptor isn't nearly big enough for that.

If it is a Miranda adaptor it won't infinity focus. Miranda had a shorter registration distance then Pentax.

Thanks boriscleto & Adam.
Boriscleto, looks like Miranda has male claw on the camera body & Bronica though, as you said, it's too wide but has the male claw on the lens. The adapter I have, can accept male 4 claw. I think more research is needed to identify it. Boriscleto provided some very nice clue, please keep the search on, I am keeping it too. I am just curious about it may have no practical use of it these days.

My first guess was a Soligor or Vivitar T4 adaptor, but I double checked mine and it has 3 prongs instead of 4 and the female mount is on the lens side.

I think I've got it this time. Leica M bayonet.

Leica M mount - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Or maybe Contax RF / Nikon S-mount.

It is the closest match so far, thank you Boriscleto for the research. I tried to find adapters for Leica M mount but did not see any reference yet similar to this adapter.

Any non corrected adapter for Leica M would be of limited usefulness. The Leica registration distance is so small that focusing would be macro only.
