I Swore LBA wouldn't get me.

I swore it wouldn't happen to me, but here I am clicking send on my second Paypal transaction this week buying a lens I don't need.

I think I need to admit I have a problem

The cure is easy. Just admit you do not have a problem. Denial always works if you just believe. :-)

I just bought an A 135mm f2.8 on ebay to "upgrade" from an old Sigma 135mm 2.8 after buying an A 100mm f4 Macro in the marketplace the other day. Of course I can't complain about the Sigma, I just have to have two 135mm 2.8 manual focus lenses. This is a sure sign of LBA, because it is an irrational acquisition.

As for the 100mm f4 Macro, I already have an M version of the lens that works fine. I guess the plan is to do some comparisons with the M and if I am happy with the A compared to the M I will sell the M so that I can have the convenience of the A setting.

Haven't you heard? Swearing won't help!

The only known prophylactic aid is lack of money -- or credit. There's no known cure.

(You might consider donating your body to science though.)

Until rehab units are setup worldwide for this addiction we just have to accept the fact that there is no cure.

I have tried cold turkey and done my best to rid myself of credit cards, but somehow and for some reason I still find a way and an excuse.

Only writting my lenses up in my will gives me peace of mind that someday I will be forced to part with them and LBA.

So here's the lineup for my K20D after the acquisitions and proposed deletion.

A 50mm f/1.7, A 100mm Macro f/4, A 135mm f/2.8, DA 18-55 II f/3.5-5.6 , DA* 16-50mm f/2.8, DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8.

There are times I'd like to have something faster than the kit lens but more discrete then the 16-50, so I'm thinking that the next purchase is a fast 28mm. Would anybody do something different?

If buying two lenses in a week is a symptom, I think I can join the club too. I picked up an SMC-Tak 85/1.8 and Pentax-M 28/2.8 last week. I'm up to ten lenses (which is only a mild LBA, right?), but fortunately don't have any duplicates (yet). Although if the chance to upgrade from my Super Albinar 135/2.8 comes up, watch out!

I've got a Sigma Pantel 135mm f/2.8 that might be right up your alley

I used to have it well under control I decided I would only get a lens if it were longer wider or faster than what I had at that focal length

Then with one purchase that changed. I had given up on any 85 mm lens used at a good price so I got the Vivitar 85 mm F 1.4 ( samyang lens). I liked this lens but about six weeks after getting it I found a super takf1.9 for $200. Clearly it was not in my crtieria for purchase and it was only my third M42 lens following a 35mm F2 and 28mm F2.5 ( both of which did fit my criteria) but I got it anyway. That was 8 M42 lenses ago as I decided that I would build an M42 kit.

Since this decision I have re-thought the LBA issue a little, and now , especially with 11 M42 lenses, and an equal number but faster K mounts I only get A lens if it is really different optically, or a fast KA mount.

I am still sort of standing by my rules and the only failure has been an SMC tak 135/3.5 because it was really cheap
