Extreme Telephoto/Mirror Lens?

Whenever looking around at lenses on Ebay, I always come across these and they always catch my eye... But for such a huge zoom, the price tag seems awfully small and I'm a little skeptical about the quality and performence. Does anyone own one or have any info on them? (I couldn't find them in the lens guide) I think it'd be really cool to have one just to play around with it, and for the price, if they are a decent lens, I can allow that. I'm just asking because I don't want to end up buying a piece of crap.

Here are three that I was looking at:
---> NEW 500mm / 1000mm LENS KIT Pentax K7 K-7 KX K20D K-X - eBay (item 180468347699 end time Sep-09-10 09:27:23 PDT)
---> NEW 500mm / 1000mm LENS KIT Pentax K7 K-X KX K1000 P3 - eBay (item 180474965710 end time Sep-25-10 20:41:16 PDT)
---> 500mm Mirror Tele Lens for Pentax K-7 K7 K-m Km K-x Kx - eBay (item 390225503211 end time Sep-09-10 08:10:19 PDT)

Also, one more question, they come with T mount rings, so will I still need a K adapter? All these different terms and mounts are really confusing me.

Those aren't zooms, FYI- the 500mm lenses just come with a 2x teleconverter (rendering the lens even more useless). You can't expect much from lenses such as these. At best, they're a novelty that you can play around with. Forget about stability, sharp images, or pretty bokeh

It says on the product page that your K-mount adapter would be included, so you wouldn't have to buy one separately.

Those are pretty much crud. Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against crud -- I have way too many cruddy lenses. But all my crud is CHEAP crud. My Sakar 500/8 mirror was US$13, my Spiratone 400/5.6 tele-tube was US$15, but I did pay a whole US$220 for a huge Rubinar Makpo 1000/10 mirror. I can't think of any sub-premium slow 400-600mm mirror or tube that's worth more than US$50. But that's me. I'm cheap.

Check out the Mirror Lens Club to see which kind of images you can expect from a mirror lens:

As others have indicated - the one you have seen on e-bay is probably not any good. The club thread will give you an idea of which brand(s) to go for.

The 500/8 mirror lenses you usually see on sold brand new Ebay are all made by Samyang, regardless of the brand name on the lens. This is indeed not a particularly great lens, but when you do check out the Mirror Lens Club thread, you'll see even it is capable of decent results. I wouldn't consider paying as much as $100 for one, though, nor would I pay extra to get the useless 2x TC they might be trying to sell you with the lens to make it 1000mm.
