Why you guys wanna mention old junk lenses like the Flektogon when we have this classic.
BTW the difference in viewfinder brightness is there when compared to my DA 35mm f/2.8 Macro Limited.
Large max aperture good, small max aperture bad...

Actually, the K-r and DA 35/2.4 AL were listed on Pentax Imaging with the official specs at the same time. The K-5 has yet to be officially announced and listed. Until that time, its mere existence is just a rumor. BTW, I fail to see what this lens being developed from the FA 35/2 AL has to do with the old Flektogon. If you want to delve into m42 lenses at that speed lets talk about the Auto Tak 35/2.3.
Somebody else had mentioned the Flektogon, that's why. So tell us about the Auto Tak 2.3/35...

In my Auto Tak days (55mm on an S3) many of us couldn't afford to expand into Tak lens territory so opted for Meyer or CZ or, in my case, Schacht and Schneider. Fond memories there!

The relevant point is: the K-r and lens had the ribbon. The K-5 is still on the top shelf of mommy and daddy's closet and we're not supposed to be peeking yet.
The leak came complete with photo, so the K-5 is more than a rumour. Who's to say it wasn't deliberate? It's often done these days. I still say that, as far as public awareness goes, this is a threesome and it was a mistake to include what sounds like a cheapo lens with delicious camera hardware.

Very nice, creampuff - the perfect solution (your 2/35 A). But try and find one... I have the 2/35 M which was magic on my MX but relegated to the drawer when I switched to a DS. Now this cracker has a new lease of life thanks to the K-7's green button, but if I see an A version I shall snap it up.

I think you're really stretching here. It clearly pairs with the K-r, which was what was officially announced with it.

I have the M35/2 also and love it. Scarily sharp lens, and nice and compact. Definitely a good option for MF folks.

About official prices:

Pentax smc DA 35mm f/2.4 AL

This is the first german internet shop I found offering the DA 35/2.4.
This shop is not known as a very cheap seller.
The price of € 249.- includes german VAT (19%), but not postage.

That's more expensive than I thought.
I'd like to see what B&H and Adorama sell them at.

They'll probably start near list too, but I'll be shocked if it doesn't drop to a 20-30% discount by new year's.

Yeah, I am curious with the effective price will be in a K-r kit.

Of course it's expensive. Adorama can charge full price to get all the preorders at a profit premium. Once they hit shelves, and the people who will pay a premium to be first are done they it will drop to keep pace with other retailers.

Once it hits shelves I expect it to drop under $200.

There is no such official kit. I think $220 is the price for new product. No doubt the price will drop till $200/190 in 3-4 months.
