lens Refurbishment in UK & IRE

Hey guys,

Can anybody recommend a company in the UK or Ireland for refurbishing and reconditioning lenses?

Also refurbishing lenses, is it a good idea?

My advice is Camserve - just type it in Google and you're away

I believe the refurbs all come with a 6 month guarantee and they've always been a pleasure to deal with.

I think Johnsons Photopia now handle all Pentax repairs in the UK.

I had a Canon EOS600 repaired there a few years ago with good results.

that's what I got told by Pentax stockist in London... would probably go with them but ain't sure about the price... If you'll find out let me know please, as I'm thinking of few things... thnaks

Just looked up your pictures and your not wrong Lloydy. I love the one titled 'Wolseley by moonlight'. Really beautiful!

I have had several Pentax prime lenses cleaned/repaired by Harrow Technical, who are Pentax specialists. I have always been delighted with the results. Contact them for email

Thanks Glenn for that post. I contacted Johnsons Photopia, Camserve and Harrow Technical. Johnsons Photopia could not give me a quote without first having the lens examined by their technicians. Quotes from Harrow Technical and Camserve came in around £40 to £55. depending on level of refurbishment needed e.g general maintenance to oil residue removal on aperture. These prices are with bulk orders and I'd imagine would also be dependent on the amount of glass the lens has. As I don't know the prices Johnsons Photopia I can't comment on them, but Harrow Technical and Camserve seem very reasonable. Of the two Camserve are the ones who more readily give a quote so I'd be most inclined to go with them as P&P would be a killer for me in Ireland for a shot in the dark. If anybody reading this knows of any other names in lens refurbishment please post them. The more the merrier!!!

This guy is a regular on the Manual Focus forums site ( Trifox ) where he's listed as UK based.
I've read good things about him, but never had any experience of him.
