A quick comparison Tak 100mm F4 vs Tak 105mm 2.8

Had a few minutes today, and decided to do a very quick test. Took both of these lenses and shots them both at f5.6, just to see if there is much difference. I've only had the 105 on my camera once or twice, because I love my 100mm. Here are the results. These were just JPG's straight out of the camera. I didn't have time to do anything fancy. First will be the 100mm, then the 105mm, then the respective crops.

Interesting! A close call. The 105mm is supposedly legendary but in your example the 100mm appears to have a slight edge in contrast!

I have the 105 mm in k-mount and find a little soft especially wide open compared to my SMC-m 100 macro. Optically I think we have the same lenses. For portraits I like the 105 because of the softness

In fact I would say very soft at 2.8 although the effect can be nice (the M100 2.8 is a good bit sharper wide open). Not necessarily a disadvantage.
