I doubt highly that Pentax will phase out in body motor within the next ten years. Considering the number of primes that require in body motor, I have to think that the majority of limiteds sold are for lower end cameras. Now, if Pentax ever released an EVIL camera, I think in lens motors would be the only option...

I recall a Minolta 28-135mm F4-4.5 lens, whose optical qualities rivaled the Zeiss and G lens. I have high hopes for this lens.

This and hopefully a 55-300mm WR wouldnt be a bad travel combination.

I have a k100 d and bought this lens, expecting the AF to work. It isn't currently. Any way to fix this issue so that it will work or am I stuck with a manual only lens now?

Vangelic... your K100D is obsolete. I suggest you get a more modern camera like the K-x...

For AF to work, the lens and camera need to communicate electronically or mechanically. The K100D lacks the ability to communicate electronically, the lens lack the ability to connect mechanically.

The first post in this thread contains a quote from the 18-135 press release:

"This lens is compatible with the PENTAX K-5, K-r, K-7, K-x, K-m, K20D, K200D, K100D Super and K10D (with Ver. 1.30 or later firmware installed) camera bodies. When mounted on other camera bodies, the focus mode is automatically switched to manual."
