Pentax 50-135mm MKII.

With pentax eol-ing lenses and possibly introducing replacements, i wonder if there is anything in the 50-135mm that can be improved upon if such was in the works.

AF speed, SDM reliability. That's it I think, the IQ is already fantastic.

New DC replacements for existing lenses?

Hopefully we will see replacements for this and other lenses using the new DC technology. I believe that this new technology will prove more reliable than the old SDM. (It could hardly be worse!) I am also hopeful that the new DC motors will provide for faster focusing. Time will tell.

Does anyone know much info. on what exactly 'DC motor' means? Is is a motor like Canon's USM or more like Canon's micro motor in their consumer-grade lenses? I know Pentax was reported to have a patent for some new internal lens motor. Perhaps this is the end result?

It would be great if old SDM lenses could be retrofitted with the new design instead of having to purchase a new version of the same lens to get the motor, if that is in fact all that changes.

That would indeed be awesome, but it seems unlikely. I would absolutely pay to have this done if it would increase the AF speed (my only fault with this lens).
