Cosmicar MC 28mm 1:2.8

In my other thread "lens questions", I was trying to get some info on this lens. I figure I should strap it onto the K10D and take it out for its first run on this camera. I decided to shoot a video game figurine from Bioshock. I had shot the same fellow with my Canon 20D and Tamron 90mm SP Di Macro in much better I can compare the two lenses somewhat.

Here goes.

4 shots, the first has no PP other then a resize. The second shot has a sharpen of 1 pixel radius at 100% strength for lens blur using CS2, and a contrast of +10 (+ the resize).

Now here is the same fellow using the Tamron 90mm SP Di Macro.

You can tell that the macro lens is sharper then the Cosmicar 28mm. Not a fair direct comparison I guess. What I do know is that the few quick test shots I took with the lens really doesn't tell me much. Figure I would post them to share anyways.

the comiscar pics look good to me and the tamron are very good (its a great lens). i have the comiscar lens and shot a couple of quick shots when it arrived (to my surprise) attached to a teleconverter i won on ebay. i was impressed by the decent quality of the photos produced. it is my understanding that it is in fact made by pentax.

Cosmicar Zoom

Back in '85 I bought a Program Plus kit from J.C. Penney. Along with the body, SMC 50 2.0, and flash was a Cosmicar 70-200 f4 zoom. I later added a Digital
Data Back (M) and an SMC A 24mm 2.8 WA (which I guess is worth almost as much as I paid for the whole kit 20 years ago. I still havs everything including containers and receipts.

Anyway the Cosmicar is a pretty good lens, and I've used it on my K100D up until I got my Tamron 18-250 which has hardly been off the camera in six months.........

Cosmicar is a pentax brand, comes out of Germany or Japan. Doesn't have smc but good glass. Pentax TV lens are named Cosmicar. You can get them cheap and they shoot good.
