Dear people!

Whats the value for the beautiful SMC PENTAX 1:3,5 / 15 lens ?

I have the chance to get one, but the price seems to be a little high.

What do you think ?

last time I saw it selling it was approximatly 2/3 price of the new DA15. Not a bad proposition indeed. But I already own DA14 and I do not shoot film a lot.

Check out the forum lens review DB for prices and this web site that tracks selling prices.

SMC Pentax 15mm F3.5 Lens Reviews - Pentax Lens Review Database

http://www.jcolwell.ca/photography/lens$db/Lens$db-v14.pdf

There are two versions of the K15/3.5, the regular (spherical) and the rarer K15/3.5AL (aspherical) version.

There are also two Takumar screw mount versions (spherical & aspherical) and an A15/3.5 version.

I am not up to date so have no idea how much it costs, but it is not particular great optically. It will make a great collector piece, but the DA15 would be a much much buy in practice.

The SMC 15/3.5 is a big chunk of glass and metal. If you want to use it solely on APS-C then I can only advise you to get the DA15. The DA15 is not only sharper, but also very resistent to flare.

IMHO the SMC 15/3.5 only has collector value in this day and age. Back then the extreme wide-angles were not very sharp.

For film users though it is fun and wiiiiiddddeeee..... I rather like mine and use it on my LX with BW film quite often. I got mine in a bundle for much less than the going rate (it included a black MX, a SMC-M 100mm f/2.8, a SMC-M 40mm f/2.8, and S-M-C Takumar 200mm f/4 amongst other things). They usually go for more than 400, sometimes quite a bit more.

Yes +1 for using the K15/3.5 on a film camera, it's perfect and the built-in filters a bonus!

0.6 kg and 80x82mm

That's bigger and heavier than the A*85.

Yes, I want one too, but so far I've gone after more usefull lenses.

These items vary massively in price relative to their condition & model.
What is its condition? Any visible wear? Does it come with the original front cap (rare) & the original case?
Is it screwmount or bayonet mount?
What the asking price?
Upon receiving this information, I will give you my opinion!
Cheers, Pickles.

Nice shot, what filter did you use?

That’s another benefit of using the K15/3.5 on a FF film camera as it was original designed for, the full 15mm 100 degree horizontal field of view.

I like using the K15/3.5 for taking pictures of fishing boats. I can stand one or two meters away and get the entire boat in the shot, with no distortion like a fish-eye lens.

Hi everybody!
Some people asked for further info on the lens, so here I go:
its in mint condition, comes with original metal front cap, original case, and has a K-mount.
I have one image only and will post it later. The lady said she wants to have more than 600 EUR.
Thanks a lot for so much help you all!

600 Euro is $840 Australian. If I could find such a lens in that condition in M42 mount, I'd buy it. There are a few of these around, but not many in that condition with caps & case.
I think it's well worth the price, that is, if you're asking for an opinion.
Regards, Pickles.
