Peter Zack, fantastic effort on the Sigmas. ...But no luv for my baby? No prob. I'll add her:

Sorry M80, I was adding them as I go. We should have all the Modern Sigma covered soon and Lowell provided me a great spread sheet in Excell of many Tamrons and some others. All have been forwarded to MO and he's going to start creating the data base. Just keep adding lenses to this thread that you don't see listed already.

The ones Lowell did are:

TTamron Adaptall-2 01B 24 mm f/2.5
Tamron Adaptall-2 02B 28 mm f/2.5
Tamron Adaptall-2 03B 135 mm f/2.5
Tamron Adaptall-2 04B 200 mm f/3.5
Tamron Adaptall-2 02A 70-150mm f/3.5
Tamron Adaptall-2 03A 80-210mm f/3.8-4.5
Tamron Adaptall-2 04A 75-250mm f/3.8-4.5
Tamron Adaptall-2 05A 70-350mm f/4.5
Tamron Adaptall-2 06A 200-500mm f/6.9

Tamron SP 52A 70-210mm f/3.5-4
Tamron SP 55B 500mm f/8 (mirror)
Tamron SP 52B 90mm f/2.5

All the modern Sigmas are listed above and for those that are interested I wrote Sigma the other day and there are 2 new lenses that will feature the Pentax mount but they did not have an eta on release dates. The response to my email was:

Thank you for your inquiry. There are plans to produce the 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG Macro and the 50-150mm F2.8 EX DC lenses for the Pentax mount. Unfortunately we do not have any availability dates at this moment.

No need. Was hope'n with the wink smiley you'd figure I was just tease'n. Awesome job again. And thanx for the info on the coming lenses. Looks like I may be getting another Sigma in the coming months then as the supply of used FA* 80-200mm zooms seems to have dried up from the Matsushita (or whatever it's called) eBay seller. Wish they'd release the 100-300 / 120-300 f/2.8 zoom in Pentax mount. After going through the whole Safari with the prime, I can honestly say based on experience that telephotos [and moreso with TCs] are too limiting as primes; I like zooms.

So if I am reading you correctly, as a group we continue to build this list and there are enough lenses to create a 'database' to work with then you can create the Non- Pentax lens section? Is that correct? This could take some time anyway as there are lots of current and historical lenses fro just Sigma, Tokina and Tamron alone.
That's right. We'll also have to clearly have to distinguish between the old and the newer lenses once I get this list organized, and once I have a look at the spreadsheet you e-mailed me.

in case no one else found this, I tripped over it looking for pentax data. It covers some, but not all of the non pentax lenses also.

Would be nice actually to capture all the data in the lens reviews

I would like to help. What if you send me the info and I compile it in one db, place it on the net and place a link here in this thread. Fields could be added at any time before, that is, Mo decides he has enough info which can then be imported/exported into HIS database.

Nice job Peter et al.

Peter, thanks for reviving the idea. Once completed, this would certainly help out a lot of new users.

I thought of using Google spreadsheets so we could have a running entry of the lenses already covered, and which ones listed still needs more technical data. Perhaps a single Google account that could be shared with the whole forum would suffice, although if some of you already have Google accounts, that would also be helpful.

Thoughts?

This is a nice list, Peter. Thanks!

Due to the nature of the current DB software, however, I will unfortunately still have to hold off the addition of a third-party lens section until I have about twice as many lenses as you've listed here (~30). Because all the entries I upload are sorted by date and not by title, I've got to have a substantial number of lenses to make a category "pay off" so to speak. If I upload any entries after the initial batch, I will have to access the MySQL database manually and change some timestamps
You can still make this post a sticky , can't you?

The idea was to compile the basic data for many of the common 3rd party lenses. Then once that was completed more or less (you'll never get them all as there will always be some missed). Then Mo could create a database from the list just like the Pentax one already here. Then we could take and submit pictures and add our reviews. So maybe there's enough here now to get the ball rolling????
