Anyone know when Tamron is going to update the 70-200mm???

I'm wondering if anyone knows when the update for the Tamron 70-200mm lens will be? i.e., if there will be an update...

See, I'm needing this kind of a lens (I'm still torn between the Sigma and Tamron) and if tamron were going to be updating anytime soon, I'd wait and then buy the new tamron, otherwise...

Is there any reason they need to upgrade it? Unless they're going to go to market with some new drive option what's to update? It's got a very good reputation as is.

I'd be happier if the lens isn't updated in the near future. An update would likely mean SDM and some form of in lens shake reduction, which makes for a more expensive lens without much added value for us Pentax shooters. I'm thinking of the recently updated Sigma 70-200 OS as an example where the price doubled when they added in lens stabilization.

Updating with Optical Stabilization [OS] and Weather Resistance sealing [WR] is always an option. But it's also likely only Nikon & Canon would get them too. So, not sure if Pentax would get an update in the foreseeable future.

We've already got SR and WR is not on the cards with 3rd party lenses...
Just get the Tamron - a very fine lens optically.

C'mon now - not all copies have this issue, but if it does surface, send it back for repair under warranty...

Well, I would except that I'm worried about the focus clutch system (or whatever you call it) because I override AF all the time with MF adjustments... Maybe just because I'm use to my DA*.

I would like to see exactly how fast the AF is in real life... Can anyone provide me with a little better understanding? Because if it's as slow as my DA* (which isn't sluggish, but you know what I mean) then I don't think I could get by with that.

This is one of the main reasons I bought the Sigma 70-200 HSMII. Full time manual over-ride was important to me. And, HSM seems much faster to me but I don't have any SDM lenses to compare. I'm quite happy with IQ and sharpness (Please, no cries of derision from Tamron users - I'm sure it's a good lens).

Mhm. Is that lens out of production now? Adorama isn't selling it anymore...

No, I called Sigma and they said that it's still in production...

What I would like is the Tammy's IQ with Siggy's AF...

One reason I can think of is stuck aperture problem - very common with this lens.
