My FA43 and FA77 has rather strange serial numbers

who can explain?

0017775 - FA43 silver
0008007 - FA77 black

Maybe they decided to eliminate the zeros after concluding that fewer than 100,000 would be produced? That would explain why the early lenses had them, but the later ones didn't.

Probably just how many copies have been sold since released. My 1st FA77 bought in Japan when it was just released had serial # 0000xxx.

My MIJ 77 black has, 00xxxxx, its also in the new database. I entered those zero's into the databse but they dont show up.

What is strange about these SN?
Doesn't all Pentax lenses use 7 digits for serial number?

If having fewer digits that 7 in PF database the number was probably not correct entered or the database software has removed supplementary zeros in front of serial number.

Need to explain to users to put all digits in data-base. IMO

So does mine. I bought it second hand. The only FA limited I bought new is the 43 and it is 00xxxxx.
