I don' know -- wasn't me.

In general though, tulip hoods are a good AVERAGE solution because of the rectangular shape of the sensors and fixed FOV -- and they make more sense to me for primes than zooms. They deal with incident light from ALL angles pretty well, but still benefit from extra help with specific light sources in certain circumstances.

IME, night photography with many pin-point light sources within the non-imaged view of the front surface of the lens is a good place to experiment with hoods.
