I'm a little confused on the Sigma's, they have a couple of versions in the 17-50 , 18-50 range.
I'm looking for the very best repacement I could find for my Kx's 18-55 kit lens.

Which of these Sigma models has the best IQ?

17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM

18-50mm F2.8 EX DC Macro

18-50mm F2.8 EX DC Macro HSM

The 18-50's were a good lens but from what I have read & images I have seen, the 17-50, which is the newest version, is the pick of the bunch. It has improved lens elements and coatings and produces better images.

Note also that there is no 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC Macro HSM for Pentax mount. The HSM version of the 18-50mm was only ever available in Nikon Mount.

If you only want to replace the kit lens; Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 is also a viable alternative. It has better IQ (than the kit lens), it is versatile and it is more affordable than the fixed aperture offerings.
