Some sellers are up and up, and I admire that. When this seller was notified that his lens was not the DG version, he quickly changed the auction and gave thanks.

Subject: galenvtp has sent a question about item #280572674793, ending on Oct-18-10 07:50:20 PDT - Pentax SMCP-A 50mm f/1.2 Lens
Sent Date: Oct-16-10 09:45:57 PDT

Dear heberhart61,

This offering seems inconsistent with the later description:
"Vivitar 1:2 mm lens for Pentax-M made by Asahi Optical w/ 12mm tube ext."
Obviously, a f/1.2 or f/1:1.2 lens is faster than a f/1:2 and the Pentax-A designation indicates an auto capability not reflected in the Pentax-M designation. Can you clarify exactly what this lens is?

Pentax SMCP-A 50mm f/1.2 Lens

Item Id:
280572674793
Location: FL, United States

Listing Status:
This message was sent while the listing was active.

Final Note:
My query was not posted on e-bay, nor was it responded to other than above. The lens read appears to be deliberately misleading and barely acknowledges the 1:2 vs. 1:1.2 question that I posed. Indeed! 5mm lens?

How about this fellow, selling an Optio X90 on Ebay with a picture of a K7 ? And for a mere 440% and-a-bit over what it's listed for right now on Pentax USA Webstore.

PENTAX 14.6 MEGAPIXEL OPTIO (R) X90 DIGITAL 17831 MODEL
26X SUPER-TELEPHOTO LENS, 2.7" LCD WITH ANTI-REFLECTION

This is the second time his auction ended since I ran across it.

This was my first time reporting an ebay sale. I hope it helps the buyer when he gets the wrong item!

The seller never responded to my query for more information. I imagine the buyer will not be too happy when the $35 Pentax-M 50mm f2 arrives!

Seller has been warned. oh well, good luck to both the seller and the buyer for the dispute. I would be looking at this as it progresses.

Even if the camera offered is the one shown (and mis-titled), the price is about $500-$600 too high. Hell, I paid $1100 for my K7 and WR Kit lens a year ago.

About the lens, sale has been voided and it has been relisted correctly, but the description is still the same:

Pentax SMCP-M 50mm f/2 Lens - eBay (item 280577654556 end time Oct-26-10 12:40:49 PDT)

I know i'm flogging a dead horse, but I like to hear that whip-crack.

starting bid is 1 dollar. boy, I guess the seller got pretty excited when the initial biddings on the former sale went up off the roof. but anyway, it doesn't mean that the seller have to be dishonest just to make a quick buck that is worth more than he intended to sell initially. good call by the seller, and I can't sympathize with the sniper.

I dropped a note to the confused eBayer. He's brand new and is probably selling for an equally-confused friend. Poor guy.

His feedback is zero; if he doesn't fix things, it may be going lower ....

He relisted

I did complain to ebay and they vauled my feed back etc and that they also would take this up with the seller.
But the relisted item still have the incorrect specs as some one else in here noted. Guess he just don't get it...

But a question: has any one seen this combo? Vivitar 50mm lens made by Pentax ?

It's possible but not likely. I've read of early Sears-marketed Pentax gear with lenses marked ASAHI SEARS. If a Vivitax did exist, it would probably be marked ASAHI VIVITAR and I've *never* heard of that. Maybe some collector-archivist here has a definitive answer.
