DA* 50-135 price cut?

For those who are kicking themselves that they missed the DA* 50-135 at $799US before it listed for $999US, Amazon is now selling it for $850US with free shipping. BH still lists it as $999. I bought my K10d from Amazon.com and was pleased with them, though all things being equal, I still prefer B&H. I find B&H return policy great. I have never had to return anything to Amazon. I wonder if B&H will match that price drop....

Adorama has it for 829.95, but not with free shipping.

Good news. I sort of think about getting this zoom as well after witnessing so many great shots taken by this lens

If you go through Amazon, 6ave sells it for $836 shipped though the 6ave web site still shows $999.

Because you're paying for really good glass. For the quality that you get, it's actually noticeably cheaper than the Nikon / Canon equiv

So it looks like I am resurrecting an old topic, but I thought that was better than starting a new thread on the subject. Hopefully a few pentaxians out there can help me out!

I am weighing my options on buying a DA* 50-135, and with the used one not being much less than new I have decided to go the "new" route. I have noticed in my price searching that most everyone lists this lens for sale at $999 and up. Pretty standard from B&H, Amazon, Adorama, ect. I noticed however, that Cardinal camera is selling the same lens (I think the same . . .) for $899.

It just begs the question, why is the price $100 LESS from cardinal camera??

Is there a not-so-good "import" version of this lens? I would think there isn't given that this is Pentax's flagship series, but who knows these days!!

Thanks

It's probably just older stock from when the RRP was less. I'm sure I bought my copy a year ago for less than $900

I got mine from Adorama on a 4th of July sale last year for $799 plus a 7 year warranty. It had been listed at $999 and I picked it up as soon as I saw the sale. Worked nicely plus the 7 year warranty in case the famous SDM failure happened to me...So far so good.

So if you see a sale. BUY IT!

Subtotal: $834.90

Unfortunately, everybody thinks that $ = €. In the US a lens costs 500$ which in my currency equals about 2700kn and in the EU the same lens costs 500€ and that equals about 3700kn. Quite a difference

Not to mention various import duites, tax etc.
