SMC Takumar 200mm f4 price?

Looking to buy a SMC takumar 200mm f4 M42 screw mount lens from ebay. How much much should I pay for it?
As usual greatly appreciate all your help.

Based on a couple of completed listings on Ebay I'd say these can be had for US$ 40-50 (shipping excluded).

The S-M-C Tak should be in the $50-100 range in ex+ condition. Technically, there was never a SMC Tak. In fact, S-M-C is short for Super-Multii-Coated as it actually appears on the face of the lens.

I paid $100 for my 200mm F3.5 Takumar preset, which I considered acceptable, as it is (in my opinion) a far superior lens to the 200mmF4, although substantially heavier with 67mm front end, but the 18 blae aperture more than makes up for it.

I believe the SMC Tak and the K mount (SMC-Pentax) are identical but the SMC-M 200F4 is different

As with all Takumars, it depends very much upon condition.
You could certainly buy one for $40, perhaps less, but if you wanted a pristine example with original hood, caps, case etc etc, then you could pay $150+.....depends upon what your requirements are.
Cheers, Pickles.

I have a friend that owns this lens. It is an impressive piece of equipment.

I jump over the 135mm to the 500mm/4.5 for the long end of my Tak collection. I do have a Vivitar 200/3.5 in m42. However, I will probably endup selling of about 95% of my non-Tak m42 lenses.

The Tele-Tak 200/5.6 is kind of nice as well as compact. It has multiple aperture blades as well. The downside is it is slow. But in sunny environments, that is not a problem.

Thanks for the input.
Don't care much about the original hood/case/caps. I am looking for something with pristine optics. Looks like anything between 50-100 might be a good deal.

Thanks to all for the input. I am keeping an eye for the 200mms. Looks like there are not many Taks f3.5 for sale. Most of the ones for sale are f4. I will post details of my purchase once I find the lens.

I'd reckon that you're spot on there.
Cheers, Pickles.
