[langtitle=it]Meglio 50 1,4 o 55 1,4 ?[/langtitle]

Sono indeciso. Per la mia k10D e K-5 meglio il vecchio 50mm f1,4 FA o il nuovo SDM 55mm f1,4 ? Quale ha il miglior IQ ? Grazie

Both seems to have similar IQ, even in corner when used on cropped bodies (all Pentax DSLR).

Here is a comparison, though as per the link, 55m is slightly better in corners.

Pentax DA55 and FA50 - a comparison

If you are okay with MF, you may want to consider Nokton 58mm too which is considered sharper of the lot by some users - I do not have any personal experience though.

If you don't mind MF, the old K50 is pretty good!

Having said that, out of those three I'd pick DA* funding permitted.
It's a great lens, only reason I didn't keep it was having K50/1.2....

I own the 50 1.4 M and the DA* 55 1.4

The DA* is much larger and heavier; it's more akin to the size of the kit zoom and the weight of a "serious" zoom.

AF is a little slow, but still much faster than I could MF (and still be accurate). So it doesn't bother me all that much most of the time. AF is very accurate, just a little slow.

For street photography and general usage, I'd recommend the DA* if you can afford it. It's a great lens that balances with the K-7 very well, and IQ is great even wide open. Well built and looks good. You don't have to worry about focusing, setting the aperture, stopping down to meter, and then taking the shot as you would with an M.

All that said, I do use the M 50 1.4 when I want an extremely light lens to take on outside days; where there's enough light to where I won't have to shoot wide open so I'll have a little DOF to help me get good focus.

I would pick the FA 50/1.4 because of size and I like what I see from it. The DA* has the WR which would by the primary reason I would get one. However, the FA 43/1.9 is interesting except for it being 1.9 rather than 1.4.

They render quite differently from my understanding, and the DA* 55 is good for soft and dreamy portraiture. Sure it can be sharp, but it's really about a creamy soft picture. For the money, the FA 50 1.4 would be good for general purpose, and I would splurge on the DA* 55 if you wanted a serious portrait lens.

Hi all!
I am using pentax K200D with lenses:kit 18-55 II, 21 ltd,40 ltd and DAL 50-200. I want to sell my 21 and 40 and add more a little money to get DA* 55 1.4. At present, I am satisfied with 40 ltd however I rarely use 21 ltd because of my kit. Is it the best choice for me or getting FA 50 1.4 better? Because I like the large aperture to have good blur back ground but FA 50 1.4 is soft at 1.4 ( I listen from many people ). I read many reviews about this lens but I have a little bit worry about this. Moreover, I really like the sharpness and bokeh of this lens in spite of its the highest price in normal focal length.
So can anyone give me some advice, please!
Thanks!!!
P/s: I usually take photos with model, friends and family, I need the highest quality than the flexibility with a zoom because I have DA 50-200
