16-50 vs 18-55 ?

100% crops from center of image.

Thoughts?

The 16-50 is sharper and is probably giving a more natural tone. That is, Assuming both of these received the same processing.

The 16-50 looks much better to my eyes, but I think you should do your test in better light and with matched apertures.

Additionally I think a comparison of the corners would be prudent because those tend to be significantly better on nicer zooms, and it's a weak point of the kit lens.

redo the test under good lighting inorder to avoid shooting with High ISO or underexposed which would show Noises that are detrimental to IQ and make it quite difficult to see the difference. also shoot at the same focus point.

Yes, I have some--how did you do this test? Did you set it up to favor the 18-55? The 18-55 pics look better to me!

The 18-55 looks brighter, but with less contrast... and there is some weird fringing on the reflections of the bike.

I would bet the 16-50 would look much better than the 18-55 in an outdoor scene where the contrast and sharpness would really pop.
