sigma 8-16 problems?

Hi, is there anyone who have sigma 8-16 and encounter problem in auto focus? Just got mine, but seems like auto focus is not working. Tested on k20d and kx, no focus. manual only. Best regards.

OK I just got my lens to but I will take a SWAG at this.

First is the switch in manual or auto focus?

Next I have seen that 1 because it is a little slower then some lenses it likes a little more light and 2 because it is so wide it needs a good target to focus on.

yes. i know all about technical stuff, and do run tests systematically. auto focus is dead. the lens makes some very low noise 4-5 hz on auto focus, but not focus at all.

in spite of electronic malfunction, this lens performs perfectly regarding image quality. guess that i have to go through all paper work to get a new copy. i m just concern about quality control of sigma.

Sorry to hear about the AF problem & hope you have better luck next time. I've been thinking of buying this lens. Apart from the admittedly discouraging problem you've had, are you happy with the results you're getting?

I have contacted Abes of Maine to exchange another copy of the lens.

Update:
I think I got the grey item, store guarantee and valid within US only. Just returned the lens.

Can someone recommend where I can buy this lens in US with international guarantee?
Can it be done or do I have to buy the lens from the destination country, in this case in Norway?

Update:
Got Sigma confirmation: Buy the lens with international guarantee 1 yr. Repair will be covered locally if you send the lens as a gift to other countries.

I just got this lens last night and mine seems fine. No exhaustive tests but the AF is definitely working.
