35 years ago, the prices were once like this:

considering that these prices are 3 and 1/2 decades old, this is how expensive they were, if we are going to do some price equivalence and value compared to today's prices. value of a $150 lens in 1975 would be have a $???? equivalent value in 2010.

There are a number of $$ conversion sites on the web. The first one I looked at indicates that $100 in 1975 = $416 today.

Very cool Pentaxor. As much time as i spend poring over the lists of lenses and accessories for the big dealers its nice to see a multi-page list of just Pentax gear....and with PRICES no less!

I feel like an ass for ever suggesting/thinking that modern camera gear is expensive! The used stuff "holds its value" if you don't consider inflation, but in reality these lenses are really good deals compared to their original prices... and equivalent lenses can be had for a fraction of the cost new that it was so many years ago!

Modern cameras ARE expensive. What makes them so is their lifespan. Yes, you would have paid an equivalent amount in 1975 for a K2 that you'd pay for a K5 today, but that K2 is still (and will continue to be for the foreseeable future) just as good of an image making machine as it was 35 years ago. Do you really think the K5 will hold it's value as well? Heck, I have a K10D that's lost over 60% of it's value just within the last 3-4 years.
