Help please

I am thinking of buying F*300 F4.5 lens and I would like to know if this lens auto focuses with my K-5 body.
Thank you for any information you can provide.
Harish

Yes, any K-mount screwdrive AF lens will AF on any Pentax dSLR.

I found out that it is similar to FA lens except when using manual focus, the camera also has to be switched to M mode.
Thank you.

I assume you mean Manual Focus. This is true with FA lenses as well. I don't know about the F* but the FA* lenses can disengage the auto focus without doing so on the camera. Useful for Catch In Focus. M mode is the exposure program where you choose all your own settings, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. M Mode has nothing to do with auto focus.

Yes, I mean Manual Focus on the camera.I think FA is better that way but, lacks the tripod collar which is what I need for bird shooting with SR off.

Why not a DA* if you're spending the money? Much easier to find.

I found a good lens, as a matter of fact I found a FA lens as well. But, I am going with the F* because of the tripod collar and I find the color rendition to be better with FA lens than with DA lens, just for my liking. I use DA 300 only in inclement conditions. But, I might sell it to finance this lens.

Ah, ok. I thought you were just looking for that focal length. Didn't know you already had one. Carry on.
