Don't know about the 30mm Sigma, but on my 24mm Sigma they don't. I'm at work and don't have access to some shots, but I'll post some tonight.

NaCl(the sigma 24mm f/1.8 is quite a nice lens but not small by any stretch)H2O

There are a few photos in the lens review. Everything I've heard of the lens is pretty soft, and low contrast until around f4, IIRC. Doesn't mean it's a bad lens. I've been thinking of getting one for the focal length and speed; however, I seem to be using portrait on crop 50s and wider angles right now, so it doesn't make complete sense at the moment. I can wait until I run across a deal.

This was taken with a sigma 30. Nasty direct, pop-up flash. This is cropped - will dig out the original for you.

Found the full thing. Here it is. Simple jpeg export out of lightroom. No PP (quite obviously). f/4.

Er, where have you heard that? I almost only ever use the 30 at f/1.4. Apertures above f/2.8 account for less than 10% of my usage of this lens--usually I'll switch to a different lens rather than stop down.

30mm @ f/1.4, 1/160, ISO 100

30mm @ f1/1.4, 1/60, ISO 1250

30mm @ f/1.4, 1/25, ISO400

30mm @ f/8, 1/60, ISO100 (one of three shots ever taken at f/8)

If you're shooting at f1.4, why would you even worry about the corners?

Saying it has soft edges is different from saying that it has low resolution or lacks contrast, though. Going off center resolution, the Sigma beats nearly every prime in the current lineup. It is also probably the most punchy lens I own in terms of contrast and color rendition, especially wide open.

The corner resolution isn't stellar but the nature of the lens makes it a non-factor. LoCAs are really well controlled and, outside of sharpness, the lens doesn't gain anything past f/1.4. Basically the Sigma is a lens you buy for the f/1.4, use at f/1.4, and love at f/1.4.

Thanks guys!

There is more to a lens that just "how" sharpness. The Sigma has wonderful personality and some of the creamist bokeh you'll ever see.

Ooh wow there's such a thing as a Sigma 28mm f1.8 also for Pentax. And it seems cheaper than the 30/1.4. Anybody have that one also? 77mm filter thread though!

There is 20, 24, and 28mm in 1.8. 30 in 1.4.
