haha, nice, but then you'll be shooting with nothing cause Pentax doesn't have any of those lenses in the line-up. Gotta pick the ones available or made already.

All my picks exist somewhere in Pentax mount, I just don't want to know how much they'd all cost together. About the only sane costing lens would be the CJZ 80mm f1.8 Pencolar. It's 'cheap' but nice.

For general use, parties, traveling, photo journalism where multiple FL is required:

DA* 16-50mm
DA* 50-135mm

For specialist shooting where IQ is demanded:

DA 15mm for landscapes
DA 35mm for flower macro, street scenes
FA 77mm for portrait shots

extra: D FA 100mm WR for serious macro & bokeh production

I don't have a problem with hauling around my Nikkor 400mm f/2.8 AF-S VR with a D3s on it

I never thought a pack mule would be under consideration as essential gear. :Hysterical:

I'm new, but I'll take a stab:
DA* 16-50mm f/2.8
DA* 55mm f/1.4
DA* 50-135mm f/2.8
DA* 200mm f/2.8
DA* 300mm f/4.0

As you can see, I lean to telephoto more than wide-angle.

I don't know how you work, but I don't pay my assistants to just hold reflectors and set up and break down studio setups.

I could have used you input in my "help-me-not-useless-fashion-model-photographers-assistant" thread.

Actually, Blue, llama are better pack animals. Much more tractable and eat less than a mule.

I thought about them, but they start balking at about 100 pounds of payload.

I only let them near the Nikon gear. That way, if it ends up at the bottom of the river its easier to deal with. :Hysterical:

best 5 lens set I have now:

16-45 (razor sharp - beats primes in sharpness much of the time)
31 ltd (the best!)
58 Voigtlander (love this lens)
77 ltd (beautiful performance/color/rendering))
k 135/2.5 (stunning when technique dialed in)

IDEAL 5 lens set:

15 ltd
31 ltd
58 voigt
77 ltd
60-250

but I would still want the availability of:

something like a 11-16
a great 16-85
a great 70-200 2.8
some long 400mm or 500mm wildlife glass
a couple of the zeiss ZK's (21, 85, 35, 50?)
