The Perfect 5 Lens System

Alright, so you just won an amazing contest and you get a free K5 plus you get to choose any, ANY 5 lenses for the body.

The catch is, you can only use those 5 lenses for 3 years (forever is too long). What do you choose?

Here is my perfect 5 lens system:

FA 77mm f1.8 LTD
DA* 50-135mm f2.8
DA 15mm f4
DFA 100mm f2.8 Macro WR
DA* 200mm f2.8

I'm a sucker for primes but having a mid range zoom would be extremely nice. And I like to keep things compact, I wouldn't want to carry a FA* 600mm f4.

That's pretty close to my thought on a 5 lens kit except that instead of the DA*200 and DA*50-135 I would use the DA*60-250 and then add the FA 31/1.8 so it would look like this:

DA15
FA31
FA77
100WR
DA*60-250

Ditto !!!, now I just need to find a BIG bag full of money !! haha But I guess if I could choose ANY lens, I would substitute the FA 80-200 F2.8 for the DA 60-250.

Hi, JP. That is quite close to what I actually carry around. I carry five lenses and a TC. My Flickr site shows that the AFA 1.7X AF works very, very well indeed with the DA* 50-135. I would really rather have the FA* or A* 250-600 than the M 400, so that's the one I would cry about giving up at the end of it. The 1.7X and the M 400 really don't seem to get along, so I carry the 1.4X-S with the 400. Since I already own the first three lenses, they cannot take them away.

DA 12-24
DA* 16-50
DA* 50-135
+AFA 1.7X (with 50-135 = 85 - 230)
M100/4 Macro - rather have the DFA 100 WR, though!
M 400/5.6 - rather have the 250-600.

But I would not be able to give them back after only three years!!!!

Hmmm,

Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM
Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX OS HSM
Sigma 50mm F1.4 HSM
Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG HSM II
Pentax FA* 250-600 F5.6

Yep, I'm going to go against the grain and have only 1 Pentax lens in there. I'm a sucker for Sigma HSM, which hasn't let me down yet.

DA 15 ltd

DA 35 ltd

DA 10-17 FE

DA* 60-250

DA* 16-50

I figure this will cover everything I will ever need. From a super-wide for landscapes, the 35 for general street use (and macro), the fish-eye for architecture (I have one and love this lens), 60-250 for general wildlife and the 16-50 for everyday use.
