DA 15 Limited
FA* 24
FA 35
FA 77 Limited
1.7x AF TC
Obviously I don't have much use for the long end. If I get an extra lens to go with the TC, make it a 135.

It pretty much depends on the weight and bulk I am willing to carry.

My light kit (3 lenses, fits in a tiny bag):

DA 15
DA 40
Apo-Lanthar 90

More complete kit:

DA 10-17
DA 15
DA 40
Apo-Lanthar 90
F*300/4.5

I often add the Pentax 1.7x converter to use with the Voigländer and Pentax telephotos.

If weight is really not an issue, I replace the Apo-Lanthar 90/3.5 with the 125/2.5.

The good point is that I have everything in stock.

Cheers!

Abbazz

I have designed my kit to cover the full range while giving IQ and travel options.
10-17
16-50
50-135
55-300
50-500 Sigma
If I want to travel light, I carry the 16-50 and 55-300
For IQ, I carry the 16-50 and the 50-135
I will add the 10-17 when I am travelling with a 3 lens kit....

Hmm...

DA 15
DA 21
FA 31
FA 77
DA* 50-135

Toughest one to add was the DA 21, but I figure I'll need it for those times when I only want to take one lens, without the bulk of an FA 31, and when the DA 15 is too wide.

This is what I am running on my af digital kit. (six lens )

DA 21mm ltd
DA 35mm ltd macro
FA 50/1.4
FA 77mm ltd
Sigma 105mm Macro
DA* 300mm

AF film kit (5 lenses):

F 28/2.8
FA 50mm/1.4
FA 77mm ltd
Sigma 105mm EX DG macro
DA* 300mm

As you can see, the only difference in my digital and film af kit is that I use the F 28 rather than the DA 21 and 35 ltd lenses. However, the 28 is good on digital as well.

Sigma 10-20
DA*55/1.4
FA100/2.8 Macro
A*400/2.8 (with TCs)

...and a 18-250 when I can't carry all the above.

people might want to look here, to either see the FL range suggested by forum members as necessary, and / or enter their own opinions

it is amazing to see the 15 mm so many times and the 21mm so few , even thou the 21 focal length is much much more usable .

thou I agree 15mm is much more dramatic . super wide is fun.

for me just give me a 21mm that is as good as the 31mm for digital . I am willing to pay the price of 3 lenses for a really really good 20mm lens that is small , and fast , and SHARP as SHARP can be .

as much as I love the 20mm f2.8 (and I really love this lens!!! ) it is only sharp not WOW SHARP

then I will add to that the 43mm and 77mm

or 40mm and 70mm DA and I am set to go

I think there is a reason for it.

Forgive me for delving into the field of view vs format debate just a little, but 15mm on ASP-C is like a 22.5mm lens, and 21mm is like a 31m.5 mm lens.

WHen I shot film, I had 24 mm and found it was not bad for most things but was still not really wide enough. then I had my fast 50, and also a 28-105 zoom. I never really spent much time on the 28-35mm range with film, I find this focal length much more interesting now, on digital.

for me I can easily understand the demand for the 15

You're pretty close. I'd pick the five most expensive lenses available, then sell those (maybe) and buy what I really want. And what do I really want? I don't know yet. When I win the contest, then I'll do the research. I try not to waste too much time wishing for / obsessing over stuff I can't afford.

Thanks. I was going to put down the FA 31mm limited, but for the price of that lens alone, you could buy my whole list of lenses. Plus, the Takumar SMC 35mm f3.5 is really an excellent lens. As far as I know, it is the absolutely best value for the money on ebay. It's so good, I bought 2 copies, just in case I accidentally damage the first copy.

I have more than 10 lenses in that focal length. They're all good lenses, and they all have their unique character and specialness, but the Takumar SMC 35mm f3.5 is just a class above.
