Tripod Collar for the FA*200/2.8

Hey all,

I'm hoping to find an after market Tripod Collar that would fir the FA*200/2.8.

Mainly so I can use it on a monopod (with or without a converter) and easily switch from portrait to landscape views.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Andrew

I don't think it's necessary, the lens ain't that big or heavy, hand held would be fine though, right?

Yes, It can be hand held, but I would also like to be able to use it with a monopod.

Cheers

Try ebay

I have the DA200/2.8, it's derived from your FA ditto, I think.
I measured the lens diameter near the mount and decided on a
$6.99 chinese tripod collar designed for the Canon EF100/2.8 lens
on ebay.

It's not great, but OK. Theres a little wiggle unless you tighten it really tight. But hey - $6.99 and free shipping!

Regards,
--Anders.

what's the diameter of the mount. I am looking for a mount for my Takumar 200F3.5, which is missing the stock mount, and I doubt any one with the lens will give theirs up.

Lowell, if you get close to the right diameter, the flat rubber bands used in medical clinics for tourniquets when taking blood make excellent wrap-around fillers. Squeezable for fit with plenty of grip.

A strip of thin leather or fake-leather from a purse or jacket sleeve works too, just don't get caught.

no offense intended but thanks for what I already know. What I would like to know is the diameter of the mount bogged than my lens is ok to an extent, smaller is not

Andrew,

Manfrotto has an accessory called "Support for long focal lengths" or similar, Manfrotto code number is 293. It is kind of a sling around the front element and the lens/camera sitting on a sturdy piece of metal that will be connected to the Tripod/Monopod.Mounted on a 3-way-head, it should allow switching landscape/portrait.

Have a look at it on Manfrottos website.

The drawback is that it is bulky and expensive, but the overall build quality of Manfrottos items is in general very good. This support can be used with any long lens lacking a tripod collar and of couse can be easlily combined with a converter plus lens.

Maybe an idea.
