FA 35mm Vs 28-75mm

I recently purchased a Tamron 28-75mm for street photography. I was also thinking to get Sigma 28/1.8 but then someone offered me a used FA35/2.

How these lenses compares especially FA 35mm Vs 28-75mm. Do you think it's overkill to get FA35mm if I already have 28-75mm. Although it's a full stop difference, I think probably it wont matter much in street photography.

What you guys suggest?

Yusuf

The zoom on the FA 35/2 really sucks...other than that it is a lightweight, compact, and fast walk-around lens. Optical quality is superb and AF is snappy. Mine is almost always on the camera. Assuming that it is a local seller, why don't you just take your camera with you when you go to inspect the lens and see if it fits your style?

Joke?

I would not get another lens in the range of a very good one you already have.

@Steve, yes I am going to do that once 28-75mm arrives.

@SpecialK, yeah, this is exactly what the intent was this thread, it's like buying and then not using most of the time. Want to avoid this situation again.

Yes, the FA35 sucks at zooming. but the question is what does the OP trying to accomplish with the FA35 that can't be done with the Tammy for street photography?

that exactly the advice I am seeking really don't want to buy it unnecessarily - I have enough in store . It's just that we often don't get Pentax lenses for sale locally and since it was offered, I got tempted. What do you think? unnecessary??

Even used, picking up the Fa35 is a big investment for a focal length you clearly have under control. The speed of the Fa may not make of a difference outdoors, but the shallower DOF would give you a different tool to utilize on those occasions which merit its use.

although I highly regard the FA35, I believe it is unnecessary for your use. the focal length that is covered by the Tammy is more ideal for street photography as opposed to a prime 35, unless you are carrying 2 or 3 bodies with you. on my part, since I prefer primes and tend to carry and use a 2nd body, the FA35 is more of my choice, not because it is better optically, but because I tend to use the 35mm focal length more, even when only using one body. also the fact that I don't have a good zoom lens at those focal length (16-75). the selection varies from 16/17-50mm to 24/28-70-75mm/f2.8 lenses.

Yeah I agree. Actually I have been shooting with primes but I am amazed by 28-75mm IQ, more than what I expected. Let me repost this image from 28-75. May be I will pass FA35mm.
