I can see a few lenses here all long fast tele's. All with a 112mm front element

Specifically 300/2.8. 400/4. 500/4.5. And a really good and this range of lenses only teleconverters at 1.4x and 2x

Maybe also a 200-600f5.6 zoom

Pentax's current offerings are pretty slim, OK non-existent, in the 400 + range. A DA* 400/4 would suit me just fine. Even a 400/5.6 would be nice given the improving ISO quality of the K5. Such a lens might actually be practical to manufacture and affordable as well.

I should of added that I'm talking about the " L" white bodied lens. It's excellent. A buddy has one and the sharpness of the pictures will knock your socks off.

I'd be happy with DA* remake of 50/1.2. And 11 or 12mm rectalinear f3.5 pancake (something the size of K17/4 or S-M-C T17/4). 105/2 wouldn't go amiss too and DA* version of 135/1.8 would be just terrific.
As much as I agree on the call for fast 30, I think Pentax have too many lenses in that segment anyway and as long as they will keep 31ltd in production I don't see fast 30 coming.

This post reminds me of the long tele system of Leica R, with tele lens elements that were adaptable one to the other to create different telephoto lenses.

I think Pentax could create something similar, with a front element that can be adapted to different rear parts... it could be enough strange and quirky to be veryPentax...

I would prefer a 400mm f/2.8. I have the AF-S nikkor 400mm f/2.8 IF ED VR and the canon equivalent lenses and they are really quite versatile in conjunction with 1.4X and 2X teleconverters.
You nailed it. Fast 400 with TELECONVERTERS!!!!

But fast 400's are uber expensive....ie: Nikon 400 F 2.8 is $ 9400 CAD...out of range for many budgets.

A DA* remake of the 50mm f/1.2 would be brilliant, from the look of things the SDM drive contacts wouldn't get in the way, and it it was still reverse compatible with the older film camera bodies it would be great.

I would prefer a FA limited in those focal length ranges.

I would probably prefer it that incarnation too if for nothing else than for typical FA rendering, MF feel of FA ltds and build metal quality...
sadly though, I don't know if we'll see more FA ltds... bit too late IMHO

but.... DFA WR.... I wouldn't say no!

I would like a FA 31mm f1.2 for something like 700-800USD (or less) :-)

It would work for me also, but I'd want some matched teleconverters of the 1.4 and 2.0 variety that would autofocus.

Like smeggypants, I indeed like to see a wide angle prime (17 or 18mm will do) in the Pentax lineup. However, I'm happy with a F/2.8

It would indeed be nice if Pentax would extend it's range at the teleside but for me it's not necessary at this stage.
