Does anybody know where we can get the new DA 18-135 WR within 1 week from now?
I have a friend who wants to purchase K-5 & DA 18-135 WR and they are leaving for vacation in 2 weeks.
I saw Adorama is taking order online but do they have it in stock?

It's not released yet should be in 2 to 3 weeks if we are lucky. There is a 12 year old kid somewhere in Viet Nam with his hands on one right now shining it up and boxing it for shipping.

I thought usually retailers list the lenses for less than the pentax online store? They are both $529 though....do these lenses usually drop in price any from retailers soon after release or is it $529 or nothin for a atleast a good while? Any talk of K-5 kit buyers flipping the lens?

Well the way prices in the US have gone in the past year or two I would grab one as soon as I hear how goor or bad it is. I remember buying a new DA 40 a year and a half ago for $220.oo now they are running in the $300 or $400 range.
I bet the 18-135 will be up in the $700 range by next summer if the lens is any good at all.

I don't think I need this lens right now, but I'll be interested to see someone posting about it outside of the Rumors section. I assume no one is ahead of the release on this lens.

Where does this date come from?

I assume european market will be even later?

If this is correct I can order the K-5 today and do not need to wait any longer - I need the K-5 as a "backup-camera" for my K20 on the 4. December and do not like to get it on the last day...

I see no arrival date on the B&H entry so I guess that is still up in the air.

Here in Canada I verified the date to be late November (from Pentax). Henry's camera now list the lens, but indicate internet ordering only.

There may be stock arriving in warehouses in the States though. Might be worth chatting BH or Adorama on the website here.

The DA 18-135mm WR lens was supposed to be shipping to dealers in late October or early November. We have not received the lens at the Pentax webstore (PentaxWebstore - Home) as of this morning. You might try websearching to see if any of the Pentax online dealers have the lens in stock yet.

I ordered the 18-135 a few weeks ago from Adorama. Just got an email a few minutes ago saying the product has been packaged and assigned a tracking number.....I guess they're here! Pretty excited to say the least...
