Personally, I like lists with links such as this. Nice work and people with have fun working up some more LBA. I do believe though most of the lenses reflect street price, the DA12-24mm is about $200 high. Since that item is my xmas gift to myself i am pretty familiar with B&H and Adorama prices. I can't explain why Amazon would be almost 30% higher on that one item.

Well, Adorama's price is similar:
$899.95
21577 Pentax SMCP-DA 12mm - 24mm f/4 AL (IF) Super Wide Angle Auto Focus Zoom Lens

But, sure enough, B&H has it for $699.95. I'll make a note on the list.

the DA 21 is at B&H for 509 and I think this is more consistent with its historical prices. Hopefully the amazon price isn't an indication of where the price is headed...

Actually, the Adorama price is also $699 but like most places you have to click on "special price" or "add to cart" to see the real price. Pentax gets the numbnuts award from me for not allowing retailers to advertise the true price.

edit - but hey, I really appreciate the work you did putting together the list just to get my LBA hormones pumping.

Sorry, I did not mean to stir your LBA. I noted your comment on the OP.

What is the reason for the Pentax lens pricing scheme? There has to be one. Why do retailers have to pretend that their Pentax glass is a bad deal? I simply don't understand it. The pricing scheme in Canada is bat**** insane and if Pentax thinks it can sell me anything when I have access to the internet... well they must be stoned out of their noggins.

Actually, many of the Nikon and Canon lenses are also selling below the "minimum advertisable price." I believe it has something to do with helping out the little guy (i.e., large outfits like B&H or Adorama are not allowed to advertise prices lower than the minimum). Not sure how that helps now that practically everyone searches the internet.

You'd be surprised how many people email me because the price on screen isn't as low as they were expecting - 'cos they don't realize that you have to actually put an item into the cart to see the lower price.....
