Got one of the first batch for pentax. On my k10d it works great.

All the reviews I've seen with people complaining about hunting have been reviews using canons. I think the built in motors have an issue in the lens vs. screw drive for the pentax version.

Buy from B&H, and you're covered with international warranty for the first 2 weeks.
If there is a significant fault with the lens, it is easily going to declare itself with some early testing...

I had the sticky aperture issue with my copy, and I sent it right back to B&H within the 14 day period, who paid for the return shipping, fixed the problem and sent it straight back to me all at their own cost.

And I had the sticky aperture problem come up about a year after purchase, sent it in to Tamron for warranty repair, and now it's fine and still with almost five years of warranty left. A six-year warranty is another good point in the Tamron's favor!

Problem is for us lowly non-US people that warranty doesn't apply.
That's why I suggest buying from B&H who have a comprehensive initial guarantee agreement with overseas purchasers and flogging the lens until the sticky aperture problem manifests itself and caught within that 2 week window.
