Cheapest f2.0 (or quicker) 40mm or shorter lens?

Hi,
I sold my 50mm f1.7 to fund a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lens.
The 50mm was too long.
Just wondering what's the cheapest I could get a similar lens. But shorter than 50mm and f2.0 or quicker?

this seems like a nice lens and if it goes for $350 it could be next on my list
Pentax 35mm f/2 AL SMC P-FA ($350 roughly)Pentax Lens: Primes - Pentax 35mm f/2 AL SMC P-FA - SLRgear.com!

I saw the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (sounds lovely) but way too expensive.
Cheers,
Pa.

I don't shoot auto, but there's a brand-new, pretty fast Pentax 35 coming out any day now--and it's cheap.

My wife has been mad at me for the last couple of days, so I don't think I'll be buying any lenses soon.

Unless I win the Mamiya that I'm bidding on on eBay.

If I do, I'm in trouble.

Life isn't easy sometimes.

But man--I want that Mamiya!

I had this same lens in 1972.

That 35mm would be perfect, if it was not discontinued and overpriced as a result. The replacement is not much slower and going to be a good deal, so take a good look at the 35mm 2.4. If manual focus is your thing, then the 35mm 2 Tak would be great - just harder to use than a fancy new AF lens .
