asavings -- has anyone had experience with them?

Can anyone tell me if asavings is a reputable seller? I called them and they said that they are an authorized pentax dealer. I'm thinking about buying the DA* 55mm from them.

apparently not:

Store Locator - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site

ETA: It's very strange that Beach doesn't show up. I would contact Pentax and ask. That way you will have a print record.

I bought the pentax 17-70 as well as the Olympus m4/3 9-18mm from asavings, no problems here (claimed a pentax rebate on the 17-70, that is pretty good proof i think). I think they are related to tristate camera, like the parent company name or something like that. FWIW, I talked to pentax cs before I bought my k5 from provantage. They stated if it was bought in the us from a us retailer it is warranted unless the seller explicitly says grey market...I had no problem registering the camera at the pentax USA site as well ( kind of off topic but sort of relevant!)

Mhm. Pentax USA told me the same thing when I asked (several months ago).
If I can't find a good DA* 55mm here on the forum then my next cheapest option is to buy it from asavings via eBay (get eBay bucks and cashback).

Thanks guys for your responses.

Microsoft's BING cashback for ebay was terminated a few months ago.

Asavings is still close to the cheapest available new, on eBay. Buy.com has it for $600 even shipped though (to the OP).

With eBay bucks and CB I get it cheaper on eBay than buy.com...

What site do you use for cashback at ebay now? I am in the bucks program as well but use eBay alot less since the MS cashback program ended.

Well, I'm not sure that I am allowed post the actual site here. It's not nearly as much as Bing... I saved so much with bing, it's not even funny!

I'll PM you the info.

Hey guys, Google Alerts pointed me to these forums. If you guys have any questions about us, feel free to PM me or call our toll free number, which I won't post here cause that's blatant advertising and besides, you're all savvy enough to find it

Thanks for checking us out.

I'm new here, so maybe my forum vernacular is wrong, but if "pulled the plug" means you opted not to work with us, I'm sorry.

I had hoped having a presence in the forum would encourage, rather than discourage, members to work with us. If you guys feel I was wrong to create an account, I apologize, but I certainly welcome your feedback on our membership.

I would very much like to learn why you feel we should, or should not, take a part in the forum.

I have no problem with sellers participation as long as its to answer questions and such. As you said, blatant advertising can be a pain - so I'm glad you didn't do that here.
