Sweet! I can't wait. Too bad this didn't come out earlier, I'm leaving for an event tommorow at Virginia International Raceway, and I really wanted a walk-around lens but oh well... at least I didn't go w/ a Sigma or Tamron and *then* found out about this. I want to wait and see some image examples first, although I don't have a doubt that it will be better than the Tamron (which is already quite reputable I hear).

I was just getting ready to order the Tamron 18-250mm from Sigma4less or Buydig.com and now I don't know what to do. I need this lens very soon, but of course I'd rather have the Pentax than the Tamron. I wonder when it will be available. The road map says late October. Does anyone know any more details?

If I needed an 18-250 "right now" I wouldn't hesitate and would buy the Tamron. It's an excellent lens.

Once the Pentax is out and reviewed you can make the decision to upgrade or not. If the Pentax is significantly better then you might decide to sell and buy.

*lol*. Hopefully they are NOT building the lens AROUND the barrel. Could be rather awkward to hold....
