Gee, what a very nice thing to say! Espesh as this version of the shot seems a lot less sharp than the original in my computer.

Here is a 100% crop from the good sample of the SMC-A 28-80mm, f11, 10s, -.7EV, ISO100. It's near the left edge of the frame, crop direct from camera JPEG saved with fine sharpness 2 turned full soft.

i'd say it's a pretty creditable showing. Thanks to Scottnorwo for telling me abt Picasa.

Edit: using a K-7

Here's another test shot with this lens, hand held at f11, 1/50s, +.7EV, ISO100.

100% crop from the left edge of the frame, near the bottom:

This wasn't on the focus plane, just hangin' in somewhere within the f11 DOF.

As expected the lens is proving to be a bit hard to use because of the imperfect match of manual zoom to camera SR, and this was the one more-or-less clear shot i got that morning with it.

It's not the finestkind jim-dandy stuff of the gods, but i think that stuck on a monopod it has rez and other behavior that's perfectly usable in a general purpose zoom for people who like to have the option to enlarge the frame until they see bacteria from 6 feet away.

"My extra limited prime lens is way sharper, but hey, a zoom was easier."

hi,
I have bought this used lens ( SMC PENTAX-FA 1:3.5-5.6 28-80mm in verygood cosmetic & optic condition ) some days back on ebay.
I have a problem when i try to click a close object from this lens result is a dense foggy picture & in the same light conditions when i try to capture a distant object image comes perfect.
I am new to DSLR photography i guess this must be a setting error can someone help me regarding this ?

thanks
